Having visited your studio while on holiday in Skye in the summer and bought two of your designs, I feel I have to write to say how delighted I am with them both now that they are both completed and framed. I really enjoyed doing them and they remind both my husband and I of a great holiday we had in Skye in 2007. I now need another challenge and am looking at your website for some inspiration!

Dear Cathy,

Thank you very much for the Stewart Tartan & Crest Custom Design. Also for the time and effort you put into it.
I am Absolutely delighted with it. My Father would have been over the moon to have me do it in cross stitch for him. I can't wait to get started once I have finished Iris the Egyptian Goddess for my friend.
I showed  the Golden Eagle to my son and he said it was brilliant. So I will be very busy doing these designs. Once they are done I will treasure them.
Thank you once again.
I will be recommending you to my friends  in the future.
Yours Sincerely.
Nadia.

Hi,

My name is Julie Carman and I thought I’d share with all my fellow cross stitchers everywhere my latest project.  I adore Scotland so I thought I’d put together a truly Scottish “masterpiece”.  It started off with the sheep and cow and just seemed to keep growing.

Most of the designs are from Cathy Freeman at Isle of Skye Crafts.  She really does create some wonderfully realistic designs.  It was the Scottish black-faced ram advertised on the web site that caught my attention originally and that’s how it all started.  Cathy is extremely helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble.  She even charted a one-off design of the mountain hare in the picture from a photo that I sent her from a magazine.  My husband charted the Capercaillie, which looks very realistic.

A lovely lady named Siusaidh from the Gaelic Language School on Skye helped me with the wording “ALBA NADARRACH” which means “natural Scotland” in Gaelic.

The pine cones, rowan, puffin and salmon are all stitched in petit point, to decrease the size of these small designs.  It took me 12 months to complete and measures 43 x 34 ins including the frame.  I had it framed in a natural pine wood frame, complete with knots, to keep the natural theme going.  It has been beautifully framed by Bath Street Framers in Rugby, where I live.  It’s the largest single project I’ve ever done and I am truly thrilled with it.
